Injects Hidden Division in Your Listings to Allow Tracking of Your Listings

What where the positives?

None.

Any negatives?

There is a preference in this product to not display a small logo at the end of your listings stating your listing was made with this product. When that is turned off the logo does not appear in your listings, but what the company doe snot tell you is that they are injecting hidden html in your listing anyway. The company is then able to search for that code to find listing uploaded with their product. For example; searching for "gsrx_vers_859" will find all listings uploaded with build number 859. The company is using that information to display a counter on their website of all listings on eBay. They are also showing numerous examples of listings on eBay using their product on their website that include the gallery picture for each item, title, listing number and price. These are linked to the actual eBay listings. This company is violating the intellectual property rights of its users by using images with the owner's permission. They are injecting hidden code into listing in order to track listings and mine ebay data.

Summary

Avoid unless you like being lied to and betrayed.

Stab in the Back Company

What where the positives?

There are none. It has all gone down hill with version 8.

Any negatives?

Version 8.2 of this product was recently added as an option to a recent Bundlehunt package for $5.00 while the company still keeps selling it at full price on its web site and on eBay. Total dishonesty! That is often a warning sign that the company is going to make a change to what operating systems they support. Version 8.2 supports up to 10.13; however, the company's recent 8.3 beta now requires 10.14. That means if your Macintosh does not support 10.14 you are stuck with 8.2 unless you want to buy a new Macintosh. In my case that would require me buying a new Mac Pro for $8,200. Not quite sure if my two high end NEC monitors, which cost $1,000 each, would work with a new Mac Pro. My Adobe Master Collection, which cost $2,300, would not longer work thus I'd be stuck paying Adobe $39.95 month for PhotoShop and Illustrator. Not sure if my watermarking software would work. Or I would have to buy another cheaper Mac just to run GS. Any image processing and bulk watermarking of images would still be need to done on my current Mac Pro as: (a) none of the entry level Macs can compete with my older Mac Pro performance; and (b) a new Mac will not run all this software. This publishers of this product will soon go out of business. They think users are willing to pay a monthly fee and buy new Macs just to user their product. That is a subset of a subset of a subset of a subset of users and will produce far less revenue than their previous model. https://ibb.co/9WDJjKn

Summary

The publishers only sell copies of GS on eBay. they don't have a clue about selling other things on eBay. I requested that in version 6 that they hide shipping services that I don't use. Instead of seeing a long list of dozens of shipping services I don't use mixed with a few I do use I should be able to see just those I use to make editing much faster as I need not visually scan through a bunch garbage. I was ignored. I made the request again while using version 7, but do they add it to version? No, they add it to version 8, which requires you to pay $14.99 a month to list more than 50 items. How come they didn't add this to version 6 and save me and many others thousands of man hours of wasted work. Because the publishers are not involved in selling items on eBay to know better whereas such a thing was obvious to long time eBay like myself within minutes of using GS. Arrogant ungrateful publishers who stab their users in the back and use them as unpaid beta testers.

Not Happy With Version 8 Pricing

What where the positives?

Save a listing on your computer until you are ready to list, scheduler feature is great to set up listings to end when people are home. Can speak for new features as I have not upgraded. I found previous versions very useful, sometimes buggy, but the developers fixed them.

Any negatives?

PRICE! Upgrade to 8 is a monthly subscription, or one time purchase price limits you to 50 listings a month - which is the number of free listing eBay offers standard if you don't have a store.

Summary

I've used this a long time as a part time seller. It was great way to save listings to re-list seasonal (Christmas) or save a listing to try again another time. The one time price for an upgrade to a version that limits me to 50 listings a month is a big negative. One of the advantages for me as an intermittent seller was the ability to save and re-list an unsold listing when eBay offers extra free listings. I loved the chance to re-list an item that didn't sell before without all the work to photograph it and write it up. I don't like subscription pricing on software for casual home use. It makes sense for business, so if you are a full time seller you might be OK with a monthly charge. I'm glad they offer a fixed one time option, but a 50 listing limit won't work for me. Perhaps they will increase it to match the occasional additional free listings eBay offers, typically it is 200 to 500.

They Are Moving to Monthly Fee - Incompetent Developers

Summary

Could anything have beeI was a long term users of GS and seller on eBay since 1999. I stop listing items on eBay for just over a year due to disputes with eBay over its illegal billings practices. I decided to try the site once again only to discover that version 6 of GS no longer listed items. I upgraded to version 7 at a cost of $19.95. I found a major flaw with the program within a few minutes of using it. Many categories on eBay now require a minimum number of attributes. If you list an item within one of these categories and verify your listing you will receive an error message that your item is missing attributes. To fix this you must click the "Attributes" field under the listing's Options tab. When you do this you are presented with a long list of eBay's suggested attributes. In most cases only one or two are required by eBay so you can dismiss the reset by clicking a small minus symbol (-) by each one and leaving the remaining attributes at their default values. Having to constantly dismiss these unwanted attributes was going to be wasting many hours of my time so I brought this to the attention of the GS development team. It was obvious to me that GS7 knew the difference between those attributes which were required and those which were not required so why not add a preference to GS7 to not to show the non required attributes. This would save having to constantly dismiss the unwanted attributes with each new listing. I was then asked by the development team to join the beta testing for version 8. It was also at this time the development team disclosed to me their new pricing model for version 8. Users will only be permitted to list 50 free listings per month. If you list more than that you need to buy a subscription for $14.99 a month. I find it utterly dishonest of the company to not disclose this fact on their site and continue selling version 7. This information is only discussed in their special version 8 forum which only accessible by invitation. The development team claims they need to charge a monthly fee due to the lack of sales with previous versions. Upon using version 8 beta what did I find? I found they had implemented my suggestion under Preferences eBay Advanced Attributes Panel. One can now choose: Insert suggested attributes; Insert required attributes; or Leave blank. I complained within their special beta 8 forum which can't be seen by the general public. I complained about the team not fixing this obvious major flaw in the two years version 7 has been out. I complained about the new pricing model. I complained that the company choose to call this major bug fix a new feature in GS8 instead of fixing GS7. I received a reply from another user within the forum stating that I was mistaken because I had not taken enough time to evaluate the product. That can't be true because they added my suggestion to GS8 within days. The other poster said there was nothing wrong with version 7 and its great. That can't be true because the company claims they must now charge a subscription fee because their upgrades and new purchases no longer make them enough money. I was told I was using the program wrong as the other poster had never encountered this problem with attributes. If this other poster was listing on the U.S. site then that can't be true and is a lie. If the other poster was listing on a eBay site in another country that does not require attributes then the other poster is not qualified to issue an opinion on the matter. I was told there is nothing wrong with the new pricing model as it works great for the other poster's store. I like my long term business model much better as its far cheaper and far more efficient. Construct items within GS and list the standard 50 items per month without insertion fees. Wait to list the rest during one of eBay's free insertion days. I pay no insertion fees and no store fees.

Good but could be better

What where the positives?

It allows you to list on eBay directly from your computer which is convenient. It also lets you create templates.

Any negatives?

The application is sluggish and you will spend about every 3 minutes waiting 15 to 20 seconds for it to "think" (I guess saving your work) while watching a spinning wheel. Doesn't sound like a lot of time but it gets annoying. Also, GarageSale has a bad problem with losing listings. They will still be on ebay but they are no longer on Garagesale. That's not a problem if you have under a hundred listings but when you have hundreds or thousands you don't notice them missing and then when it runs out on eBay it just disappears and you have an item that is no longer for sale but you don't know it. The word processor used in creating the listings is difficult to work with and it's not intuitive. If you are used to working with MS Word prepare to be irritated. It will get it done but it ain't fun. Lastly, Garagesale claims to generate reports. However, it is functionally useless because of design flaws. I guess this is something that could be fixed but they haven't done so in the four years I've been using it.

Summary

They will answer support queries but their answer may not include a solution to the problem.

Summary

I'VE BEEN AN EBAY POWER SELLER FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS. I RECENTLY SWITCHED FROM MY PC TO A MAC AND NEEDED NEW AUCTION LISTING SOFTWARE. I FEEL LIKE I'VE COME INTO THE 21ST CENTURY...FINALLY! I USED TO USE SPOONFEEDER BUT HATED THAT YOU HAD TO CREATE THE LISTING IN ONE PLACE AND COULDN'T SEE WHAT IT WAS ALL LOOKING LIKE WITHOUT HAVING TO CLICK AND WAIT. GARAGE SALE IS SMOOTH, EASY TO USE, MAKES MY AUCTIONS LOOK VERY UPSCALE AND WELL PUT TOGETHER. WHILE YOUR BUILDING THE LISTING YOU SEE WHAT IT WILL ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE AS AN AUCTION...EVERY STEP. VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER, LOTS OF OPTIONS, VERY COOL. I GUESS YOU CAN TELL I LIKE IT! YOU CAN DOWNLOAD A DEMO FOR FREE SO GIVE IT A WHIRL. I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH IT AND IT TAKES A LOT TO IMPRESS ME.

Summary

As an Ebay seller, time is money and selling programs need to address that aspect. Garage Sale is on the way to doing that. It manages to do a few things well and its only weakness, giving it four rather than five stars, is that there is more to be done, such as keeping the initial input for the sale so that buyers don't send payments for less than the postage and handling charged or billed. There are work arounds, but they take TIME. Let's have some auditing and record keeping so that we can run some reports. Heading in that direction, you'll see The Small Businessman start to purr!

First Impressions

Summary

My first impressions were reflected in my previous posting, which I am updating with my more recent observations. I am in the demo phase and at first it was very intimidating trying to use and understand the tool bar and many of the options. As I gain experience my opinion is changing for the better. I gave it the five stars because as I become more familiar with editing the power is becoming more evident. I have some issues but they will probably disappear as I use it more.

Summary

I saw these guys at eBay live 2005. Ilja and Paul demonstrated the software for me. It was very easy to use, keenly priced, and quite robust! There is no recurring fee just a one time charge to purchase the software. A great alteranative to the eBay SYI forms, since those are not very Mac friendly. Good luck guys!
